Grant Line Road Fall Run Culvert

The Grant Line Road Fall Run Culvert Replacement Project was identified in the New Albany Stormwater Master Plan as a necessary measure to improve existing drainage conditions at the localized area. The project included the removal and replacement of four 66″ corrugated metal pipes and an existing 5’x12′ box culvert on Fall Run Creek at Grant Line Road directly south of Daisy Lane with one structure that spans the entire drainage conveyance system.

Ultimately, a 32’x7′ precast reinforced concrete structure was constructed for this project. JTL performed a topographic survey of the project area, prepared a Hydraulic and Hydrologic Analysis of the drainage area, sized the proposed structure according to existing constraints and presented the Owner with a report that identified alternatives and recommendations. Once a selected alternative was identified, JTL prepared a full set of construction documents and assisted the Owner with soliciting bids. Due to the nature of the work involving an existing creek, regulatory permitting with the USACE, IDEM & IDNR was necessary to receive construction authorization. JTL prepared all permit applications and provided the necessary correspondence with each of the respective regulatory agencies. JTL also prepared easement plats and descriptions that were used for both permanent and temporary construction easements.

JTL provided full-time construction inspection services throughout the duration of the project, providing bi-weekly updates to the Owner and regular progress meetings to keep the Owner actively involved in the construction of the project.
