Every project undertaken by our Surveying Department receives special attention, and is developed with technical excellence and client satisfaction in mind. JTL makes every attempt to approach our surveying services with a detailed recognition of the unique requirements often demanded by various projects. The daily processes in the survey department are performed with a systematic approach in an environment that encourages teamwork and communication. Our staff is made up of an experienced, well qualified group of individuals. Typically, two crews are fielded each day utilizing conventional and robotic total stations, static/real-time kinematic capable GPS equipment, and electronic data collection devices. The crews are also equipped with proper safety equipment such as lights, signage, cones and vests. Our office personnel utilize the latest technology in surveying equipment, survey data processing computer software and CAD software. They interact with the field staff as well as both internal and external project managers to ensure that the work scope is complete and thoroughly reviewed before delivery.

Planning and Building Services

Our Planning and Building Services Department provides commercial building inspection and plan review services for both public and private clients. State adopted building codes are used to perform inspections and plan reviews.

We focus on quality building inspections and plan reviews, clear communication and prompt turnaround times. Our goal is to achieve an optimum balance between cost and performance to keep projects moving forward without delays.

We place the client at the center of our practice. Our consultants will tailor a building inspection and/or plan review program based on the client’s specific requirements to meet the client’s obligations to its customers.

Building inspections and plan reviews are performed by staff certified by the International Code Council (ICC), with minimum levels of certification as Certified Commercial Building Inspector and Certified Commercial Plans Examiner. Our reviewers are certified by the Commonwealth of Kentucky as Certified Building Inspectors and collectively have over 90 years’ experience in the development of the various code at both the state and national (ICC) level, code enforcement and review of commercial building plans.

We can also provide assistance to Planning and Zoning Departments on drafting ordinances for zoning and subdivision control, as well as consult with Planning Commissions and Boards of Zoning Appeals.

We can also help our public and private clients on the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) through on-site assessments and capital budget planning to provide barrier free access to individuals with disabilities.

We are active members in the International Code Council (ICC), the Indiana Association of Building Officials (IABO), the Indiana Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI), the Code Administrators Association of Kentucky (CAAK), and Fire Inspectors Association of Indiana (FIAI).
