Jeffersonville Riverfront Improvements Project

This project included making improvements to the existing Riverfront boat dock/marina in Jeffersonville, IN to serve transient recreational boating and to provide a recreational park-like setting along approximately 1,700’ of Ohio River shoreline. The project included the construction/stabilization of the shoreline with a precast concrete block, tiered retaining wall, re-construction of the existing asphalt access road, construction of new wooden boat docks and installation of a decorative concrete sidewalk along the shoreline. Water service and electric service for lighting have been extended to utility poles along the length of the project. Also, a pumpout station and force main have been installed to allow boaters to, for a nominal fee, pump waste from their boats into the sewer system. After all construction was completed, the entire site was landscaped to improve aesthetics as well as stabilize slopes during high-water conditions.

Permitting – Due to the location of the project within the floodway of the Ohio River, multiple permits were required to be obtained from various regulatory agencies. JTL obtained permits on the Owner’s behalf from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, and the United States Army Corps of Engineers, which coordinates with the Indiana State Historic Preservation Office.
